A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his friend at the latter's office in Agripada in central Mumbai, police said Tuesday.

According to police, the accused committed the crime as he was angry with the victim for resisting his theft attempt at the office where the latter worked as a sweeper.

The incident came to light on Friday, when a decomposed dead body of Mohammad Shakil Saiyad Ali was found inside the office of Build-Arch Marketing India Pvt Ltd, an official said.

"Ali had been working in the office as a sweeper since the last eight months. Before the murder, he had been spotted with one of his friends Rajbabu Koyle Mansuri," he said.

Police launched a search for Mansuri, police said.

"During the probe, they got information that he had fled to Delhi. Accordingly, a team of Agripada police went to Delhi and apprehended Mansuri," he said.

During the interrogation, he told the investigators that he tried to commit theft in Ali's office, to which the latter had objected. Enraged over his resistance, Mansuri killed Ali with a blunt and sharp object, the official said.

Mansuri was produced before the court and sent to police custody for further investigation, he said.
