A 27-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Hyderabad after losing money in cricket betting, police said.
Ghanshyam, who ran a grocery store in Bowenpally area, hanged himself with a bed sheet at his house early morning yesterday, inpsector D V Ranga Reddy of Petbasheerabad police station said.
In his suicide note, he said he was taking the extreme step as he had lost money in betting, inspector Reddy said.
Preliminary probe has revealed that Ghanshyam, who got married in April this year, sold his wife's gold jewellery weighing 280 grams for betting, the police officer said. Further probe is on.
