Man kills wife for refusing to give money to have liquor

She refused to give her husband Rs 20 to have liquor and paid with her life today.

While taking their ailing daughter to a doctor at Garurbasa under Birsanagar police station here, the 40-year-old husband kept asking for Rs 20 from his wife to have liquor, police said.

His wife, Deepali Karmakar (38), refused to give him the money as she had only Rs 100 to pay the doctor's fee.

Following an altercation, the man picked up a knife from a nearby shop and slit her throat. She died in hospital, police said.

The accused was arrested.

The victim's daughter said her father was a liquor addict and used to quarrel with her mother over the issue.
 

Both the accused and the victim worked as labourers.
