Man kills wife, surrenders at police station

A man today killed his wife in of a fit of rage and later on surrendered at a local police station in the Domjur area, the police said.

Senior police officers at Domjur police station said Indrajit Ghosh, aged around 35-years, today surrendered at the police station after stabbing his wife with a knife.

"The man came to us and said he had an old family dispute with his wife and today in a fit of rage, he had stabbed his wife Mala Ghosh and killed her. We arrested the man and recovered the body, which has been sent for post mortem. Investigation is on," said a senior officer.
 

In another incident, an unidentified youth was crushed under the wheels of a speeding truck, after he fell on a busy road, hitting the road divided with his motorcycle.

Police officers at Panchla police station of the district said two youths were travelling on a motorcycle on National Highway-6, when the person driving the two-wheeler lost control and hit a road divider near Dhansia area.

"Both persons fell on the road and one of them came under the wheels of speeding truck coming from behind and died on the spot. The other has been admitted to Howrah state general hospital where he is being treated," said an officer.
