According to police, Neeraj Bajpayee and Pooja, married since 2006 had a strained relationship.
The woman had even got a dowry case registered against him in May last year. Neighbours told police that the couple used to have frequent fights.
"Initial probe suggests that Neeraj has committed suicide by jumping before a train," a senior official said.
The incident came to the light yesterday at around 8.30 pm when Neeraj's sister went on the first floor of their residence in Gandhi Nagar and found their children Harsh (8) and Yash (7) crying.
The children told her that their parents had indulged in a fight after which their father had gone outside the home with stains of blood on his leg.
Neeraj's sister rushed into the bedroom and found Pooja lying in a pool of blood and informed the police.
Bhawna was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where doctors declared her dead.
"There were marks of stabbing on her face, neck, arms and stomach. It seems that the accused had used a scissors to stab her," a police official said.
Neeraj's body was found on railway tracks in Kailash Nagar.
"The exact reason behind the murder followed by suicide is yet to be ascertained. The in-laws of Neeraj are being questioned at Gandhi Nagar police station.
