A 38-year-old man was murdered allegedly by his elder brother, who was "eyeing" his property, in Bilhaur area here, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday, when the accused, Vinit Kumar (40) and his brother had a quarrel over property. Vinit later thrashed younger brother Sunil, who was drunk at the time, against a wall, following which he died on the spot, police said.

The two brothers had property worth nearly Rs 3 crore which had already been divided amongst them, they said.

Sunil was a drunkard and Vineet was therefore eyeing his property, police said.

Vineet later along with his three friends took Sunil's body to a canal near Kakvan area and threw it there, but while returning from there, the four persons were nabbed by the police.

They then interrogated Vinit, who eventually admitted to committing the crime, police said, adding interrogations are still going on and the search for the victim's body is also continuing said.
