The mishap took place as the boat carrying about two dozen people lost control because of overcrowding and capsized in the river, the sources said.
A man, identified as Md. Mehboob, went missing and was feared drowned. Efforts were being made to find his body, the said.
Some passengers swam to safety and some were rescued by local divers.
