A man, who allegedly posed himself as son-in-law of Andhra Pradesh DGP V Dinesh Reddy, was today arrested along with four others on the charge of threatening a person involved in a land dispute, police said.

Singaraju Venkata Ramana Kumar, the accused, allegedly threatened a man called L Prakash Rao over his cell phone with dire consequences if he "failed" to settle a land dispute involving Rao and another person Mani Prasad, they said.

"Rao, however, got suspicious of the caller and informed the police, who tapped the phone calls and traced Singarju and four others," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) V Satyanarayana said.

Rao and Mani were involved in a land dispute on ownership pertaining to a land measuring one acre at Kondapur in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district and court cases were going on in this regard besides a criminal case was also lodged with police, the DCP explained.

"Mani Prasad approached Singaraju to get the matter settled, who in turn threatened Rao, posing as DGP's son-in-law. Singaraju was offered a share in the land if he had got the matter settled," the top police official said.

Further investigations are on, he added.
