Man posing as IS terrorist threatens BJP MP, arrested by UP police

Uttar Pradesh police have arrested a man for allegedly posing as a member of dreaded terrorist group Islamic State (IS) and threatening a BJP MP over phone.

Sanjay, a resident of Mallaiya village in Sandila area of Hardoi, had on Friday threatened Kaushal Kishore, MP from Mohanlalganj seat in Lucknow, over phone posing as an IS member, police said.

An FIR was registered in the case and the accused was arrested yesterday from his village, they said.

Police said the accused had used the mobile phone of his neighbour, identified as Bhaiyalal, for the threat call and wanted to implicate him in the case.
 
Police added that there was no previous case registered against Sanjay and he did not have any criminal record.
