A man today poured kerosene on BJP MLA Rampal Meghwal when he was meeting people at Sri Ji Chowk in Baran district before fleeing from the spot, police said.
Meghwal alleged the man threw a burning match stick but it hit the ground. He claimed the man is a Congress worker.
"We have received a complaint from the MLA. His supporters have identified the accused as Kero Saxena. We have registered a case against in the matter. The accused is yet to be arrested," SHO Kotwali police station, Vijay Shankar Sharma told PTI.

The incident took place when the Atru MLA was meeting people in main market area when the man came with a kerosene bottle and fled away the spot after pouring it on Meghwal.
"The man sprinkled kerosene on me and threw a burning match stick. Fortunately, it fell on the ground. The accused is a Congress worker and is close aide of former Congress minister Pramod Jain Bhaya who is jealous of developmental works done by me," Meghwal told PTI.
A case has been registered under IPC section 307 and under sections of SC/ST Act.
