Man robbed of USD 1,900 after being offered spiked drink

A 55-year-old man was allegedly robbed of USD 1,900 and other items by an autorickshaw driver and another person after being offered a spiked drink, police said today.

Jagdish Prasad, an engineer working at a private firm, in his complaint to police said on Tuesday he took an autorickshaw from near New Delhi railway station, to reach his home in Greater Noida, police said.

He was accompanied by another passenger, while a man was sitting beside the driver. The man sitting beside the auto driver bought a soft drink and offered it to Prasad and others in plastic glasses.

Prasad became unconscious and when he woke up on the roadside in Noida Sector 12, he found his two bags that contained a USD 1900, Rs 20,000 in cash, mobile phone, ID cards, passport and other documents missing, police said.
 

A case has been registered and investigation is on, they said.
