Man's body found near New Delhi railway station

The body of a 24-year-old man was recovered from near New Delhi railway station.

Police suspect that he was strangled to death after being robbed. A case of murder has been registered.

The victim was identified as Raunak Bansal through a flight ticket found near his body.

"He hails from Indore and arrived in Delhi on Thursday. His family was contacted with the help of the details provided during the purchase of ticket. They informed he was currently unemployed. Bansal had been visiting Delhi frequently for the past few weeks," said a senior police inspector.

Bansal had come to Delhi by a Jet Airways flight on Thursday. His family told police that he was carrying about Rs 1 lakh in cash when he was murdered.
 

Police had received a call about an unidentified man's body being spotted lying next to Sainik resthouse, very close to the New Delhi railway station.

There were injury marks on his cheeks and he was bleeding from his nose and mouth. A towel was found wrapped around his neck. Police has sent the body for post mortem.

"It is being suspected that he was killed for resisting a robbery bid," said the officer.

Police said it appeared the victim was killed elsewhere and his body dragged into bushes in an isolated spot near the Sainik resthouse. The matter is being probed.
