Man's body found stuffed in steel trunk in outer Delhi

Body of a 40-year-old man was today found stuffed inside an abandoned trunk in outer Delhi's Balveer Vihar area, the police said.

According to a senior police official, the locals spotted an abandoned trunk with a foul smell emanating from it following which they reported the matter to the police around 7 AM.

A police team reached the spot at Balveer Vihar area in outer Delhi and broke open the steel trunk, discovering that a man was stuffed inside the container, the official said.

"The man has not yet been identified. His hands and legs were were tied up with a piece of cloth. The only external injury mark on the body is a strangulation mark on the neck. The foul smell made the locals suspicious," a senior police official said.
 

The police have registered a case of murder under section 302 of IPC and have started the investigation. The man's body has been preserved till he is identified, the official said.

The official added that the postmortem will be conducted once his identity is established.
