A city-based businessman today moved the sessions court here seeking pre-arrest bail in connection with the alleged rape and extortion case filed by a model against some men including police officers.

"Sikander Mirza, a businessman, has filed anticipatory bail application and the court is likely to hear it tomorrow," said a crime branch official.

Mirza's application says he has no connection with the alleged offence but the crime branch officials have been visiting his house and threatening his mother-in-law.

One of the arrested accused in the case had booked the hotel room (which figures in the sequence of events leading to the alleged crime) using Mirza's credit card. However, his (Mirza's) name does not figure in the FIR, nor are there any direct allegations against him, Mirza says, adding that he was being framed up.

The victim, an upcoming model, had sent a text message to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria on April 21 complaining about sexual exploitation by some men including two Assistant Police Inspectors and a Head Constable.

A case was then registered under the sections 376 (rape), 354 (molestation), 384 (extortion) and other relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and the probe was handed over to the crime branch.
