Man sent to 5 years in jail for possession of fake notes

A man has been sentenced to five years' imprisonment for possession and supply of fake Indian currency notes here.

Additional district sessions judge Mayank Chouhan held the accused, Nasimuddin, guilty of using fake currency notes and sentenced him to imprisonment yesterday. A fine of Rs 5,000 was also imposed on the convict.

According to the prosecution, Nasimuddin was arrested on July 22, 2000 while he attempted to buy sweets from a shop in Thanabhawan in Shamli district using two fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination.
