Man sentenced to 10 yrs imprisonment for kidnapping woman in Bihar

A court here on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years of imprisonment for kidnapping a woman in Bihar's West Champaran district last year.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) (IX) Arun Kumar held Pappu Singh alias Pappu Kumar guilty under section 366 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the FIR, Pappu Singh along with others had on May 5, 2018 kidnapped a woman when she was returning to home in Telhua village after attending a marriage function that night, Public Prosecutor (PP) Arvind Kumar Singh said and added that Pappu Singh had kidnapped the woman with the intention to marry her.

 

Police rescued the woman from Bettiah bus stand, the PP said, adding that the woman had told the court that Pappu Singh had kidnapped her.

The victim's father had lodged an FIR against Pappu Singh at Nautan police station in connection with the kidnapping.
