Man sentenced to 3 years' jail for firing at police team

The district court here today sentenced a man to three years' imprisonment under section 307 of the IPC for firing at a police team in 2013.

The accused, Pappu, alias Ashok, was arrested after he fired at a team of police personnel on October 26, 2013, near Kot canal ridge in Dadri town.

He had initially claimed to have been falsely implicated but confessed to the crime in the court later. He had surrendered before the court on March 14, 2014, and had since then been in jail.

"Pappu, alias Ashok, was awarded imprisonment of three years and fine of Rs 1000 under IPC section 307 for firing at a police team by the additional session judge," Senior Prosecution Officer Lalit Mudgal said.
 

In two separate cases, the court today awarded prison sentences to two individuals under the Arms Act, Mudgal added.
