: A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for killing his six month old infant daughter by flinging her from a moving train into a river last year.
The prosecution case was that an inebriated Murugan picked up a quarrel with his wife on the train over a domestic issue on October 22 2013, suddenly picked up the infant and flung her into the Thamira barani river.
The couple were on their way to this town from Nagercoil when the incident occurred.
He was produced before the Principal Sessions Court judge Naseer Ahmed last night, who sentenced him to life imprisonment.
