A local court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed Rs 2000 fine on him after finding him guilty of murdering a woman about 19 years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-II Nandkishore Tiwari passed the order against Bhalnu Singh for killing Rampari Devi who failed to meet an extortion demand.
The woman was shot dead at Kharari village on July 10, 1996.
Her mother-in-law Surji Devi had lodged a named FIR against four persons, including a woman Hatobali, charging them with the murder of her daughter in-law.
The court acquitted Hatobali for lack of evidence while another accused Munna Singh was awarded life term eight years ago.
Another accused Rajendra Das is facing trial in the case.
