A local court in Baramulla district of north Kashmir has sentenced a driver to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a four-year-old hit and run case in which a woman had died.
Latief Khan, a resident of Danisydan, Uri, was sentenced yesterday by Sub Judge Uri to two years of rigorous imprisonment after he was convicted in the 2009 hit-and-run case in which the woman Zoona Begum of Garkote, had lost her life, a police spokesman said.
Khan had hit Begum by his vehicle near Captain Morh, Uri and had fled from spot.
Police took up the investigations in the case and arrested the accused driver, who has also been slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 by the court, the spokesman said.
