Man set on fire by brothers over property in UP

A man was today set on fire allegedly by three of his brothers over a property dispute in Suryawan area of the district, police said.

Shamshuddin was set on fire by his brothers Mumtaz, Akram and Bhola, who were eyeing his land in Bairiparwa village this morning, Circle Officer Ayodhya Prasad Singh.

Initially the local residents prevented police from taking Shamshuddin, who sustained 50 per cent burn injuries, to the hospital, and demanded that first action be taken against the accused, Singh said.

The police somehow sent Shamshuddin to the hospital from where he was referred to Varanasi in a serious condition, he said.
 

One of the accused, Bhola, has been arrested and efforts were onto nab Mumtaz and Akram, police said.
