Man sets himself ablaze after losing Rs 7 lakh for job in Oz

A 24-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by setting himself ablaze at Annur in the district today after he was conned by a person of Rs seven lakh on the pretext of getting him a job in Australia.

The man had completed his BE (Aeronautical) and was working part time in a private college in Erode district.

He had paid Rs seven lakh to a consultant who had promised him a job in Australia, which never materialised.

"As he failed to get a job and a refund of the money, the man decided to end his life and sent a message to his friend to collect his body from Sengalipalayam village," police said.
 

He doused himself with petrol taken from his motorcycle and set himself on fire.

When his friend reached the spot, he found the man's charred body and informed police, who sent it for post-mortem. at Government hospital here, they said.

A case under section 174 CrPC (unnatural death) and further investigation is on.
