Man sets wife ablaze

A 30-year old man allegedly

set her wife ablaze near here, following a tiff between the two, police said today.

According to the Thane rural police, a case has been registered against the man and police has launched a hunt.

Santosh Waghmare (30), had a heated argument with his wife Charrya (25) on June 3, at their home in Mamnoli-Kunda village of the district, demanding that she should give away her paternal house to him, inspector Kalyan police station, D Y Jadhav said.

"Enraged over Charrya's refusal, Santosh started burning her clothes, to which she told him that he should instead, kill her and poured kerosene on her. Santosh, then allegedly set her ablaze," he added.
 

Charrya, suffered serious burn injuries and was later admitted at a hospital in Badlapur area.

A case has been registered under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC against Santosh and efforts were on to nab him, added police.
