In an apparent act of revenge, a man today shot a 17 years old youth, accused of killing his son a year ago, at the juvenile court here.

While the youth sustained injury to his hand, the man, Praveen Baviskar, resident of Malegaon in the Nashik district, managed to escape.

The youth, accused of killing Baviskar's son, is lodged in a children's observation home here.

When he was brought to the juvenile court (situated on the same premises) for the hearing of the case this afternoon, Baviskar entered the courtroom and opened fire on him from a pistol, police said.

A bullet hit the youth's hand. He was rushed to Nashik Civil Hospital.

Police have registered an offence of attempt to murder against Baviskar and are searching for him.
