A newly married woman and her alleged paramour sustained injuries after the woman's husband fired on them, police said today.

The 22-year-old man fired two rounds last night at his wife and her alleged paramour outside the couple's house on the Nashik-Devlali road here, said Inspector Sadanand Inamdar, in-charge of Indira Nagar police station.

Before the incident, the husband had had an altercation with the other man who he suspected of having a relationship with his wife, the officer said.

The accused was arrested this morning and a case under relevant sections of IPC and Arms Act was registered, Inamdar said.

He was produced in a local court, which remanded him into eight days of police custody, the officer said.

According to police, the injured have been admitted to a local hospital and investigations are underway.
