A 38-year-old man was robbed allegedly after being shot at by three bike-borne men at a Mother Dairy booth run by him in North East Delhi's Karawal Nagar area, police said on Sunday.

Nahar Singh suffered injuries to one of his ears. He is stated to be out of danger, they said.

At around 9.30 pm on Saturday, when Singh was in the booth, three men on a motorcycle arrived at the counter and enquired about the price of cottage cheese and later tried to bargain saying they need it for a wedding.

They told Singh that they wanted to check a sample of the product and tried to enter the booth, a senior police official said.

When Singh resisted, one of them took out a pistol and shot at him.

Before fleeing the spot, they robbed about Rs 20,000 from him, the officer said.

Singh was taken to a nearby hospital where after treatment, he was stated to be stable, the officer added.

A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the suspects involved in the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Ved Prakash Surya said.

Police said they are also looking for CCTV footages to identify the suspects and ascertain the sequence of events that occurred during the incident.
