Man shot at by unidentified assailants

A Tata Steel employee was shot and critically injured by two unidentified assailants near Jugsalai Makdam under Jugsalai police station limits here late in the evening today, a senior police officer said.

47-year-old S B Yadav, an employee of the locomotive department of the private steel major, was returning after unloading coal inside the works when two identified assailants opened fire at him, Superintendent of Police (City) Karthik S said.

Yadav was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital, he said adding his condition was stated to be critical.

Senior police officers led by Karthik reached the spot to investigate the case and launched a man hunt to apprehend the culprits, who reportedly managed to escape.
 

The reason behind the incident could not be ascertained, Karthik said adding no arrests have been made yet.
