Man shot at, robbed of 10 lakhs

A man was injured today when four unidentified assailants opened fire at him and escaped with his bag containing Rs 10 lakh, police said.

Mohd Akeel, a cashier in a car agency, was going to a bank in Seemapuri area to deposit cash on his motorcycle when four armed miscreants on two bikes intercepted him near Anand Vihar Bus Terminus in east Delhi at around 12:30 pm.

"Suddenly, four armed men on two bikes overtook Akeel and stopped him. Before he could realize anything they fired shots at him, one of which hit him in his thigh while the second hit his bike. As Akeel, collapsed the attackers snatched his bag and fled the spot," police said.
 

Akeel was taken to a private hospital in south Delhi and his condition is stated to be critical.

"We have recovered empty bullet shells from the crime scene. It seems that the attackers have performed proper recce before committing the crime today. The involvement of an insider in the case is possible," they said.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons at Madhu Vihar police station and a probe is on into it, police added.
