A man was today shot dead by assailants after he had voted in the school managing committee elections in Bardhaman district, police said.
Superintendent of Police S M H Meerza said Kader Sheikh was shot dead by miscreants outside the Nebarani High School at Purbasthali Kasthasali under Kalna sub-division after he had cast his vote in the school managing committee election.
Sheikh was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the SP said.

Sheikh's wife had lodged an FIR against five persons for killing her husband, the SP adding police have launched a hunt to arrest the accused named in the FIR.
"We are also trying to find out whether any old enmity was responsible for the killing of Sheikh," he said.
Meerza said Sheikh had recently come out of jail on bail. He was arrested after a huge amount of ganja was seized from his home.
