Man shot dead in Punjab

A 34-year-old man was shot dead

allegedly by a bike-borne person near Kussa village here, police said today.

The incident took place last evening when Harpreet Singh was standing in front of a workshop for repair work of his tractor following which he was shot dead by one Manpreet Singh, they said.

The bike-borne men Manpreet Singh, Sukhraj Singh and one unidentified person came to Kussa village and Manpreet shot Harpreet with his 12-bore pistol killing him on the spot, police said.

The main accused Manpreet had some personal enmity with Harpreet and he was already facing trial in a case of attempt to murder, Moga Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jatinder Singh Khaira said.
 

Manpreet was on parole, he said, adding after committing the crime he fled from the spot.

Police have launched a hunt to nab the culprit, the SSP said.
