: A 28-year old man surrendered before police here today after allegedly strangulating his wife to death suspecting her fidelity.
The man, S Prabhakaran, a resident of Injambakkam and working for a food retail chain strangulated his 21-year-old wife Saranya while she was asleep early today. They were married for a year.
After allegedly murdering her, Prabhakaran went to the Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and reported the crime. In the presence of the local authority official, he surrended before the Neelankarai Police.
"Prabhakaran has given a confessional statement [extra judicial confession] that he strangulated his wife and he has been now remanded in judicial custody," Inspector M S Baskar told PTI.
He allegedly strangulated her to death suspecting her fidelity. An autopsy has been done and Saranya's body was handed over to her parents, he added.
