Man succumbs to burn injuries

A 25-year-old man, who was

critically injured in an explosion on Diwali night, succumbed to his injures today, police said.

"Pawan Kumar died of his burn injures in the wee hours today while undergoing treatment," District Superintendent of Police (SP), Om Prakash said.

Kumar, who had a Photostat shop at the Durga complex in Lalkurti police station area here, was critically injured in the fire triggered by a blast inside the complex on October 23, he said.

He was admitted to a local hospital but was later referred to Delhi in a serious condition where he died.

Around 9 shops at the complex were damaged in the fire amounting to a loss of Rs 1.5 crore, he said.
 

Meanwhile, local traders are holding a protest against the incident by demonstrating outside the complex area. They are demanding compensation for the deceased's family and a high-level investigation into the matter.

Police are yet to find out the cause behind the blast and a probe into the matter is on.
