The matter came to light when an onlooker videographed the incident which purportedly shows the victim, who had no case registered against him, screaming while the accused policemen continued to thrash him yesterday.
When contacted, SSP Hardial Singh Mann said the police was inquiring into the incident.
However, expressing doubts over the authenticity of the contents shown in the video, which was aired on a TV news channel this morning, Mann said the video was not very clear and it could be an act of mischief.
The SSP said stringent action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
