A 26-year-old man along with his two brothers allegedly threw acid on his in-laws while they were asleep in Lisadi gate area, injuring seven family members including a six-month-old baby, police said today.

The incident happened last night and the grievously burnt victims, including main accused's wife, have been admitted to a hospital, they said.

The accused has been identified as Sajid and his brothers Majid and Rizwaan. The latter ones have been arrested while Sajid is absconding, a police spokesperson said.

Sajid, resident of Peeplikheda village of Kharkhauda area had married Ujma (22), resident of Shaukeen Garden Colony of the area, they said.

He allegedly used to beat her for dowry and she had filed a case against him in this regard. A contiguous feud had developed between the two parties after she had returned to her parents' house, police said.

Sajid along with his brothers reached the spot when Ujma's family was asleep. They then attacked them with acid injuring Ujma, her father Nisar, mother Niskina, her sisters Gulista, Tasannum, Nisha and six-month old nephew Sanad, they added.

The family has alleged that Sajid was pressurising them to withdraw the case against him. He had also threatened to kill them, police said.

Efforts are on to nab the main accused, they further said.
