Man to serve life in jail for killing wife

A man was awarded life sentence by a court here today for killing his wife over dowry two years ago.

Narendra Mehar, a resident of Barundhan village in Bundi district, was also slapped with a fine of Rs 50,000 for poisoning his wife, leading to her death.

Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Harimohan Gupta awarded the sentence to Narendra Mehar, told Prithvi Singh, Upper Public Prosecutor.

Rekha Mehar died during treatment in Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) hospital, Kota on the night of January 4, 2014.

The deceased woman's father Om Prakesh filed a case against Narendra in Talera police station the next morning for killing his daughter for dowry.
 

He had alleged that Narendra had been torturing Rekha and demanding Rs one lakh cash since marriage.
