In a case of vigilante justice, a 45-year-old man was tonsured and paraded in a village with a garland of shoes for allegedly sexually harassing his niece in Burdwan district.

The man, a resident of Satgram area of Raniganj who works in a colliery, was allegedly sexually harassing his niece, a student of a Class VIII, police said today.

The girl yesterday told her neighbours that her uncle was allegedly sexually harassing her since March 1, police said.

The neighbours caught hold of the man and tonsured his head and paraded him in the village with a garland of shoes.

They then handed him over to the Raniganj police station, officer-in-charge of the police station, Arnab Guha said.
