A man, wanted in 11 cases of murder and abduction in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi, has been arrested, police said today.
Mehraj alias Guddu, resident of Tehsil Sawere in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district, was arrested recently on specific information at Boulevard Road, a senior official said.
The accused was wanted for firing at Himanshu Shukla, an IPS officer of Gujarat Police, when he went to arrest him at Etah one evening, they said, adding initially he tried to mislead the police but later confessed his involvement in the abduction and murder cases.

He also disclosed that he along with his associates abducted one Nurul in his own car, a resident of the same village on March 25 and later murdered him, said Sindhu Pillai, DCP North District.
His body was recovered from near Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh in his own vehicle.
