A 24-year-old man wanted under the MCOCA Act and carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head has been arrested from north east Delhi, police said today.

Salman was evading arrest since 2015.

He was caught by a team from Jafarabad yesterday based on a tip-off, Ajit Kumar Singla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) north east Delhi, said.

"He was wanted in a case registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act at Bhajanpura police station in 2015. He was running a gang of snatchers since 2010 in different metro cities," Singla said.

Salman was also allegedly involved in an attack on a policeman in Badaun (UP) in 2015. The policeman had suffered serious injuries and was hospitalised for more than a month, he said.

The police seized a pistol, two live cartridges, a high speed bike and three gold chains from the accused, the officer said.

Salman had been arrested on many occasions between 2010 and 2014. He regularly changed his associates and hideouts located in Mumbai and Hyderabad, and used to fly to those places, police said.

The accused admitted his role in several robbery incidents during interrogation. His claims are being verified and raids conducted for arresting his associates, police added.
