Ministers have been barred from touring constituencies coming under the jurisdiction of Mandi Lok Sabha seat going to polls on June 23 and the restrictions would continue till the election process concluded.

Ministers can't summon any official related to the election process to a place or office or guest house inside or outside the constituency for any official discussion during the period of election, Chief Electoral Officer Narinder Chauhan said.

However, Chauhan clarified that ministers entitled to official vehicles can avail the facility from their place of residence to their office for official work, provided such commuting was not combined with any electioneering or political activity, including visit to party offices.

No pilot cars with beacon lights of any colour or vehicles fitted with sirens of any kind can be used by any minister during his visits to the constituency where the bye-election was under way, he added.
