"The Haryana model of development was lectured by the Congress as the best. The Congress party, particularly Sonia Gandhi (Congress president), had been talking much about this model. But the model has become a disaster," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.
She said the recent violent incidents in the Gurgaon- Manesar belt have really spoilt India's image abroad.
"The Haryana Chief Minister and the Congress owe an explanation how the party failed to promote industrial harmony in this industrial belt," said Sitharaman.
The BJP spokesperson was reacting to recent incidents of violence in the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt which resulted in the a bloody clash in Maruti in which a top company executive was burnt alive and the recent clash between farmers and police over land acquisition in the area.
The BJP leader said the Haryana's Hooda government had failed on the industrial front and demanded an explanation on the violent incidents which shook the nation and dented its image internationally.
The BJP would now send a fact-finding study mission led by its Rajya Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav, which will visit the area and ascertain the reasons that led to the bloody incidents.

Referring to a clash between farmers and the police in Rewari yesterday over acquisition of 3,000 acres in 21 villages of the district, Sitharaman said Haryana has failed on the industrial front.
On the communal violence in Assam's Kokrajhar district and some other areas which left at least 18 people dead, Sitharaman said the Congress has 'no moral right' to speak of secularism.
"The Congress loses no opportunity to speak on secularism. The Congress which is ruling in the state should explain on the incident," the BJP spokesperson said.
