Manhunt on for two people for killing tribal labourer

The Palghar district rural police has launched a manhunt to nab two people including a boat owner who allegedly killed a labourer from the predominantly tribal Talsari taluka, the police said today.

Police inspector G S Bangar of the Gholwad police station told PTI that Janu Revji Soman (45) of Vevji Pada of Baval in Talasari taluka was employed as a labourer with one Alamgir Shah Alam Shaikh of Mumbai.

According to the complaint by the victim's wife, her husband Janu, was beaten to death by Alamgir and another unknown person between August 21 and August 27, 2014 and brought to their house on August 27 in an unconscious state.
 

Later, he died while being treated at Jain Hospital at Umbargaon in Gujarat on August 29, after which an offence was registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

The case has been transferred to the Gholwad police which is carrying probing further, the police said.
