The Manimahesh yatra, one of the toughest pilgrimages, started on August 10 on Krishna Janmashtami and culminated on Radha Ashtami where over five lakh devotees paid obeisance at Mount Manimahesh, considered as Lord Shiva.

The pilgrims also had a view of the sacred image of Mount Kailash (the abode of Lord Shiva) situated at an altitude of 5656 metres on this auspicious occasion of Radha Ashtami.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Bharmour tribal sub-division B R Kamal, who is also the mela officer for the Manimahesh pilgrimage, said that the pilgrims including men, women and children had a blissful journey.

Six persons died due to accidents and other reasons during the 45 days yatra in sporadic incidents and otherwise the yatra passed off peacefully, the ADM said.
