Manipur ambush: Cong pays tribute to martyrs

Congress workers here today paid tributes to the soldiers of the 6 Dogra Infantry Regiment who lost their lives in the militant attack in Manipur on Thursday.

"The party strongly condemns the murderous attack by militants who ambushed a convoy of 6 Dogra Infantry Regiment on Thursday morning in which six of the 18 brave soldiers belong to Jammu region," a Congress spokesman said.

He said that the Pradesh Congress Committee leaders paid rich tributes to the martyrs and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

He said the soldiers had laid down their lives for the sake of the country and that their sacrifice would always be remembered.
 

In the worst such attack in two decades, insurgents ambushed a military convoy in Manipur's Chandel district, killing at least 18 army personnel and injuring 11 others.
