A self-taught young artist from Manipur has embarked on a journey to showcase the culture and heritage of the state on glass.
Twenty four-year-old Khusbu Sorokhaibham said she learnt reverse glass painting, where artworks are done on one side of glass pieces and viewed from the other, by watching videos on social media since 2016.
"I chose painting on glass over the canvas as it is distinctive. After learning the art form, I realised it is almost alien to Manipur and could be used to make the present generation aware of our culture and heritage," she told PTI.
Sorokhaibham said it usually takes two days to complete an artwork.
The artist has established a small store and dreams of opening an art gallery where she can showcase the cultural heritage of all the ethnic groups of the Northeast.
"I wish to explore other cultures and dedicate myself to preserving our heritage through this art form," she said.
