Six or seven parliamentary secretaries could be appointed from Congress MLAs to give them charges of some government departments, the sources said.
The cabinet decision was taken during a meeting presided over by Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh on Wednesday.
Some of the Congress MLAs could also be given the post of chairman of government-run corporations or public undertaking as there was discontentment among several MLAs who did not get ministerial berths, party sources said.
They said the chief minister who today left for New Delhi to attend the meeting of chief ministers on the establishment of National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) would meet central party leaders to discuss on the appointment of parliamentary secretaries.
Manipur with 60-member state legislative assembly can not have more than 12 ministers. Congress has 42 MLAs in the assembly.
