By laying foundation stone of small roads, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is "snatching away" the privileges of local councillors, Union minister Manish Tewari today said.
"This job can be done better by the local councillors," he said, while urging the chief minister to pay attention to other pressing issues of the city.
He said that Ludhiana does not need a Chief Minister to lay the foundation stone of small roads.
"The government was on inauguration spree with an eye on upcoming polls."
Punjab government had "woken up" to the problems of Ludhiana "quite late" and apparently with an eye on the ensuing parliamentary elections, Tewari said.
Referring to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's "inauguration spree" in the city, he said, "it is too little and too late".
The minister alleged that this was only being done to "befool" people of Ludhiana.
The Ludhiana MP said it is a public knowledge as how the Akali-BJP government during the last seven years of its rule took away all the money from Ludhiana to Bathinda.
"Even the machinery and equipment, besides the money, from Ludhiana Municipal Corporation was dispatched off to Bathinda and Muktsar," he alleged.
He raised the plight of PAU employees, whose salaries are "always delayed" and the research was suffering.
