Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari will inaugurate the 12th international meet of SAARC Engineers Forum here tomorrow.

It is for the first time that an international meet of the Forum is being held outside the capital of any country, the organisers said here today.

Nearly 50 foreign delegates are likely to attend the meet, besides a number of Indian delegates, they said.

The meet is being organised by the All India Federation of Diploma Engineers (AIFODE).

In the three-day meet, representatives of the member countries will exchange technical know-how, knowledge, expertise and educational material, the spokesman said.

Seminars, symposia and workshops will be organised during the summit where subject specialists will participate in debates on various subjects such as infrastructural development in developing countries, water resource management, regional power grid systems development, climate change and environment protection.

The SAARC Engineers Forum is a non-political and non-trade union organisation of about two million diploma engineers of South Asian nations, said Satnam Singh Dhanoa, President, AIFODE.

It was established in the year 1996 with headquarters at Dhaka in Bangladesh.

This is a common platform for the SAARC engineers working in various government departments, boards and corporations in the SAARC countries for deliberations and collectively carrying out various tasks, the spokesman added.
