After paying obeisance, he was given Siropa (robe of honour) by SGPC officials.

Manitoba is a province in Canada.

The SGPC presented Selinger a woollen shawl, a replica of the Golden Temple and a set of religious books.

The Premier of Manitoba also went to the kitchen and enjoyed the food along with the delegation.

In a brief interaction with mediapersons, Selinger said he was in Punjab to experience its culture closely.

Indian Punjabis living in Canada had made valuable contributions in various fields, he said.

Later, he visited the historic Jallianwala Bagh and paid rich tributes to martyrs of the freedom struggle.

Selinger also visited Attari-Wagah border to watch the Beating Retreat ceremony when both India and Pakistan lower their national flags simultaneously during sunset.
