Manjhi orders speedy disposal of cases involving SC/ST

The Bihar government today issued direction that chargesheet should be filed in cases of atrocities against SC/ST within 30 days and the matter should be solved within 60 to 65 days.

Those accused of committing atrocities against SC and ST should be prosecuted at the earliest, the CM said addressing a review meeting here.

Manjhi directed that every police station should have an official hailing from Schedule Caste.

Secretary SC and ST department S M Raju said that the CM instructed that officials found lacking in efficiency to solve complaints registered under SC & ST Act should be punished after departmental proceeding.
 

Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and ministers Shyam Rajak and Ram Lakhan Raman were present at the meeting.

The CM ordered regular meeting to review progress in implementation of 20-point programme at district and block level.

He ordered that in cases of murder and rape, compensation should be provided to kin of victims immediately. If fund is not available, money should be diverted from other heading to pay compensation in such cases without any loss of time.

Manjhi said in cases of rape, the accused should be punished expeditiously with the help of speedy trial.

The CM asked District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to dispose cases of land dispute and atrocities at the earliest.
