Activities of Pakistan-based terror groups, infiltration and Naxal violence will dominate the three-day conference of top police officers of the country beginning November 21 and address by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The annual conference of Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police, organised by the Intelligence Bureau, will also deliberate key issues like recent communal violence in Uttar Pradesh, militancy in Jammu and Kashmir besides others.

Apart from the Prime Minister, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and top Central officers will interact with the DGPs and IGPs of all states.

The meeting will also review the information gathering mechanism - both human and technical intelligence, its proper sharing and necessary action, how to deal with economic offences, especially fake currency.

Besides, modernisation of the police force, procurement of arms and ammunition and filling up of vacancies, particularly constabulary, will also be discussed in the meet.

Since January this year, nearly 237 civilians and security personnel lost their lives due to the violence perpetrated by the Naxals, whom Singh had described as one of the biggest internal security threat.
